Stainless Steel 347 Pipes are stabilized austenitic stainless steel pipes with a composition of 17–20% chromium, 9–13% nickel, and the addition of columbium (niobium) to provide resistance to intergranular corrosion. Stabilization avoids precipitation of carbides when welding or heat treatment is done. The pipes provide tensile strength of 515–750 MPa and yield strength of approximately 205 MPa. They have excellent mechanical strength, oxidation resistance, and creep resistance at temperatures up to 870°C. Stainless Steel 347 is also known to offer excellent weldability and resistance to thermal cycling as well as pressure variation.
